Not too busy for his #1 fan, busy ice fishing!

So I’ve been trying to reach JC for a few days now in hopes of scoring a follow-up interview and maybe talk about this week’s episode and whether or not he was finally over Jenny, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of him! I tried phoning, I tried email, I tried telepathy (seriously, I heard it works).

I was beginning to worry that he didn’t want to talk to me and I was wondering if there was something I had done that annoyed him.  Fortunately, all my worries were for not.

I just found this on JC’s YouTube and all my fears disappeared:

He hasn’t contacted his number one fan back because he’s training for the Olympics and for some reason in New York City! Wow, such dedication!

Anyways, if you’re like me, I’m sure you’ll be glued to your computer screen tonight at 7:30pm eastern watching JC LIVE on Forget The Box TV. I’ll have a full report after the show,

Well, that didn’t quite go as planned.  In fact it didn’t go as I had planned it at all.  That Cupid can be tricky!  Well, at least it could have been a lot worse, it could have gone as JC had planned – without knowing any better.  As for Jenny, while I’m still sure that she’s not right for JC, she does have some talents and isn’t all that bad.

Now, I did promise you some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and rest assured loyal Sunshine fans, it is coming – just as soon as I figure out how to throw it on YouTube or some other site.  I’ll post it here, promise!

Guess who's coming to town?

OMG, this is soooo exciting! When I took over this fansite last month, never in a million years would I have expected…Well, even though I can’t wait, I’ll make you wait (just a bit) to find out what I’m talking about.

You see, about a week ago, I saw a trailer for the season 3 premier of JC Sunshine’s Fireside Chat. If that wasn’t exciting enough, it turns out that it’s on Valentine’s Day and…wait for it…it’s a musical. The three things I love the most all rolled into one: romance, singing and JC Sunshine!

Pretty cool, right? Well, the guest seems cool (Cupid!) and JC looks in fine form. Unfortunately he goes on about that Jenny chick again. Geez, will he get over her. He can do allot better. Am I right? You know I am.

Incedentally, if I had shot a trailer for the show, it might look something like this:

LOL. Anyways, the real good news just arrived! It turns out that the producers of the show got my email requesting a chance to interview JC for this fansite and they’ve accepted. Not only that, I’m invited to attend the season 3 premier LIVE and interview JC right before the historic show!

I’ll be there and so should you. Er, online that is. You can watch JC Sunshine’s St-Valentine’s Day Musical Massacre live on Sunday February 14th at 7:30pm eastern on FTBTV then afterwards on demand.

As for JC getting over that Jenny, well, I won’t say too much here, but I’ve got me a little plan that just might work. Watch and find out.

Greetings fellow JC Sunshine fans. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Suzie and I am your leader! Well, all kidding aside, I’m only a leader when it comes to knowledge of and love for everyone’s favorite web-TV personality JC Sunshine!

This is me, your new leader :)

You see, I’m JC’s number one fan and have been so for a while. I saw in the credits of the fireside chat that there was a fansite, so, naturally, I checked it out and wouldn’t you know…it sucked! I guess JC probably delegated the job to Ricardo or someone else and they didn’t give it the respect that a real fan like me would (no offense, Ricardo, you work hard).

I decided to take it over and make it reflect the dreamy spirit that is JC Sunshine! So, no, the older posts aren’t actually by me, but everything from now on will be. I’ve also updated the site pages to let people know how they can better follow JC online, order his merch and will soon be able to play JC-themed games!

Yes, the show previews and episode recaps will continue, but I’m working on getting a few exclusives for the site, too! I’ve even removed that page that talks about all the other people in JC’s life. Don’t worry, I’ll mention Ricardo and Rex when they do interesting things, no need for a bio. I’ll also talk about JC’s guests, but no need for a special page.

I did eliminate the one bio that has no place on this site. Who cares about Jenny! She’s just JC’s neighbour that with all the stress of the show he was deluded into thinking he had a crush on. Yeah, she paid his internet bill, but a bio on the site, er, no, better luck next time. :)

Anyways, enough bookkeeping, expect a new post real soon,

Tonight, JC Sunshine fans have a chance to ring in the holidays with the cast and crew of the show, that is if you live in Montreal.  They’re doing a live taping of the season 2 finale as part of a party at the Forget The Box studio which is a fundraiser for FTB (cheap beers, we’re told).

They did a similar event for the season 1 finale and it was a total blast and a chance to see the show from a live studio audience perspective.  You can attend by going to 6793 Christophe Colomb (corner St-Zotique, Beaubien metro).

If you don’t live in Montreal or can’t make it out, you can still participate by watching online on FTBTV.  The show is part of a two-hour live lineup of videos featuring scenes from The Comedy Jesus Show, some holiday classics and assorted holiday videos.  It kicks off at 7pm eastern with a rebroadcast of the last episode, Know Your Role.

Then at 8pm eastern, it’s JC Sunshine Saves X-Mas.  JC thinks Santa Claus is dating his neighbour Jenny, so he goes out to find him and have a talk with Jolly Ole St-Nick.  Along the way, he runs into many special guests and discovers the true spirit of Christmas.  Here’s a trailer to get you ready:

The JC Sunshine feminism episode called Know Your Role is available on demand. It’s another real good one, with a couple of YouTube-friendly video parodies such as an old school educational video, a 50s sitcom parody called Cookies and Cleaning and JC talking to his “mom”.

In this episode, directed by Stephanie Lauglin, JC has finally paid off Jenny’s internet bill and now he wants to ask his neighbour out on a date. Problem is, he doesn’t know anything about women. He wants to learn more and tries to in this episode.

The special guest is feminist Laura Burton-Bloom and the interview is a nice serious juxtaposition with the show’s comedy. At the end, though, she gives JC some advice on how to approach Jenny. We won’t tell you what happened, only that it sets up the next episode nicely.

We’ve just learned that tomorrow’s episode will be a little different from your typical JC Sunshine fare. It’s going to be a quiz show or “trivia spectacular” as a recent Facebook post from the official Fireside Chat group suggests.

Apparently, JC and Ricardo will be trying to jog Rex’s memory after his recently being ejected from a spacecraft and time as a zombie. They’re going to be asking the audience to answer questions based on previous episodes and giving away prizes as well!

The most interesting story here, though, at least for us, is the fact that this show is based on a suggestion from a post in our very own forums. This is a good day for all of us here at JCSunshine.net and hopefully tomorrow will be good day too for Sunshine fans.

To compete in the contest, brush up on some of the previous episodes on demand then log in at 7:30pm eastern tomorrow (November 15th) to Forget The Box TV. Apparently, they’ll be back the following Sunday (November 22nd) with a regular episode. Sources say the guest will be Cameron Stiff of Greening Duluth.

The JC Sunshine Halloween special was great. There were a few glitches live, but there’s a tighter version on demand now, plus we’re told a more polished edit is on its way!

The episode contains a real, though brief, zombie movie.  There are plenty of zombies and even a zombie hunter.  In a first for the Fireside Chat, there are even action sequences, fighting and (funny) gore!

Basically, Rex got turned into a Zombie and turned Ricardo into one who then chased JC outside into a zombie apocalypse. He was helped by Nik Fitt (Marilea Isernia, who also does camera and helps write the show) for a while (we won’t reveal too much here) then, poof, back in studio for the interview!

The guest was Velma Candyass of the Dead Doll dancers (think zombie burlesque) and she talked about her group and their campaign to save the main. An excellent episode with an excellent guest.

This is the kind of Halloween special that could maybe become an annual event.

It was a slightly longer break than usual, but it looks like it was worth it for fans.

We’ve learned through a reliable source that the next episode of JC Sunshine’s Fireside Chat, a halloween special scheduled to air live on Forget The Box TV this Sunday at 7:30pm eastern, will include an original mini zombie movie.  An announcement on the show’s site and a series of promo images released by Forget The Box indicate that this report is true:

JC’s guests have been confirmed as members of the Dead Dolls, a Montreal-area burlesque dance troupe who are known as much for their horror-esque look and entertaining style as their moves.  No word yet on which Dead Dolls will be on the show.

There’s also no word on what will happen to Rex.  If you remember correctly, he ended up lost in space at the end of the science fiction episode.  Hmm, maybe this offers some sort of explanation:

Hopefully this is just a one-off story element, which would make sense considering this is Halloween.  Either way, it looks like they went all out for this episode.

Season 2, Episode 5, dubbed Return of The Sunshine, is now available on demand at Forget The Box here. As you can see, it is by far the most technologically advanced one yet. They’re really experimenting with higher production values and keep raising the bar higher with each episode, but the core of JC Sunshine remains.

(spoilers ahead) So JC was rescued right off the bat, getting beamed out of prison by Ricardo, then transported around the Star Trek universe before landing on the deck of a spaceship piloted by Rex. He hosts the show from space as “Commander JC Sunshine” with a litany of Star Trek, Terminator and of course Star Wars references (including a bluescreen attack on the Death Star).

The guest was Marquenzo Madsci, a self-proclaimed mad scientist and paranormal expert. He spoke a bit about himself and his experiments, then answered questions from JC and the audience about his favorite science-fiction series: Star Trek. He prefers The Next Generation and is even learning Klingonese.

Once the interview was over, JC discovered that Rex was missing. Apparently this was due to some sort of transporter malfunction, though JC didn’t seem all that sure that Ricardo didn’t do it because Rex was first officer and he was just chief galley cook. The Ricardo/Rex rivalry subtext is an interesting one and it keeps getting bigger.

Regardless, we were left, after the credits, with a shot of “Rex in Space.” So, this two-parter has turned into a three-part story arc. We’ll have to tune into the next episode on October 25th (a week later than usual) to find out what happens to Rex.

The theme is Halloween and the guest is rumored to be guests, plural (something the Sunshine show hasn’t done before. Supposedly it’s going to be members of the Dead Doll Dancers burlesque troupe, which would be really cool. Keep checking back for more updates!
